Pandemic Work from home life

Pandemic working from home life changes

The current corona virus pandemic is still making life hard for most of the world. Some of us are lucky enough to have jobs that allow us to work remotely but even that has some down sides. It is easy to go to every meeting in sweat pants or athleisure wear but it’s not for everyone. California has been on lock down now for coming up on a year and some folks need a refresh working at home. Here are four things you can do to that may help your daily set up.

Eat

Seriously, this is on top of the list because your brain can’t work if it doesn’t have any power. Don’t skip breakfast. Don’t forget lunch. Have dinner with your partner and family.

Exercise

This seems like a no-brainer, but everyone needs to move more. Sitting in video conferences or on the phone all day means not moving as much as you did in the office. Everyone should stretch regularly during the day. With all the gyms closed, starting a new workout is kind of hard but at least go walk around the block a couple of times. YouTube has some great channels, like Mark Wildman’s kettle bell training.

Get dressed for work

Another routine that is easy to fall into is rolling out of bed and getting straight to work – not really preparing to start your day. Put your make up on, even if it will get smeared by a mask going up to the store later. Do your hair. Put on pants. That could be a hard one if you gained weight (like me) in the last year – wear a stretchy skirt if that is the case. If you look better, you feel better, work better and help you be in a better mood later in the day.

Stick to a schedule

During the pandemic, this is not always easy be mindful of but, don’t let not seeing as much sun throw off your bed time. As part of the exercise program, go out during the day so that your internal clock is set up properly. Waking up and going to sleep around the same time will help make your day go smoothly.

These all seem really simple but getting them done can still be difficult. We all hear from our friends and family how this pandemic has impacted their lives and work. Let’s do what we can to make it suck a little less.
